2010 Summer Reading Program
Here are a few photographs from the 2010 Summer Reading Program at the Roslyn Library. Hundreds of participants joined us for art and science programs, including making murals, masks, and mosaics, exploring live water insects from river, pond, and stream, and a pirate party and treasure hunt. 74 kids kept track of their reading during the course of the program, and together, they spent over 1,600 hours reading, breaking all standing records and earning the librarian a pie in the face at the finale picnic.

World Affairs Series - UW Humphrey Fellows
Eight fellows with the University of Washington's Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program took a day trip to Roslyn on April 9, 2010. The guests came from Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic, Chile, Jamaica, Djibouti, Cameroon, and Czech Republic. They toured the Roslyn cemeteries, had a refreshment at The Brick, and gathered with community members at the library for an informal dinner. We called it a Citizen Diplomacy dinner, as our community members and the visiting fellows engaged in a one-on-one cultural exchange that broadened and deepened our understanding of one another and ourselves. The event was sponsored by the World Affairs Council which aims to create opportunities for everyone to engage in global diplomacy.
