World Affairs Series - Sudan

Ten Sudanese health workers visited Roslyn as part of the World Affairs Series in November. They were in the United States as part of a fellowship program with the University of Washington to build leadership skills to take back to their home country. After a day spent with at the high school and local health clinics, and a homemade American dinner at a local home, the Fellows gave a presentation on Sudan at the Roslyn Library followed by a question and answer session and informal one-on-one conversations.

World Affairs Series - Young European Leaders

Working with a collaboration of community groups and the World Affairs Council, the Roslyn Library helped to bring a group of visiting "emerging leaders" from Europe to Roslyn. They met with students at the local high school, took a tour of Roslyn's unique cemetery, and met with community and civic leaders. The Friends of the Roslyn Library sponsored a community reception for them at the Roslyn Brewery where the community at large was able to meet the Europeans, all of whom were sent to the United States by their various organizations to build their leadership skills. Alumni of the program include Nicholas Sarkozy and Vladmir Putin.
